Best Features in the 2019 Mazda CX-3

The Mazda CX-3 subcompact crossover has been refreshed for 2019 with a host of upgrades to the powertrain and interior. While it retains many of the features that made the 2018 iteration popular, the newest model offers improved handling and a classier look that make it feel like a redesign. Here are some of the best features in the 2019 CX-3.

Powerful Performance

The CX-3 is fitted with the 2.0-liter SKYACTIV®-G four-cylinder engine, which produces 148 horsepower, up from 146 horsepower in the 2018 model. Mazda says it retuned the engine to reduce internal friction and improve refinement and fuel economy. The front-wheel drive (FWD) CX-3 gets an estimated 29/34 mpg city/highway, while the all-wheel drive (AWD) version gets 27/32 mpg city/highway – putting it at the top of its class for fuel efficiency.

Paired with the SKYACTIV®-Drive six-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift and Sport Mode, the new CX-3 offers an unmatched driving experience.

Driver Assistance Systems

The i-ACTIVSENSE® safety features available in the new CX-3 keep drivers aware of their surroundings, improving their ability to maintain focus on the road to help prevent crashes. Features that come standard across all trims include:
  • ·        Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert – Helps detect objects in your blind spots and alerts you with a chime and warning light. When backing out of a parking space or driveway, the system alerts you to vehicles approaching from the side.
  • ·         Rearview Camera – Provides a view of the rear of your vehicle to assist when backing up.
  • ·         Smart City Brake Support – When traveling at low speeds, the system helps detect vehicles ahead, warns you when braking is necessary and will apply the brakes if needed.

Additional safety features, such as Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go (MRCC) and Lane Departure Warning, are available through the Sport i-ACTIVSENSE® and Touring i-ACTIVSENSE® packages and in Grand Touring models.

The 2019 Mazda CX-3 earned a top overall safety score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) – making it a smart, safe choice for drivers.

Interior Comfort

Mazda redesigned the CX-3’s front seats to be roomier and more comfortable. For the first time, they can be ordered with full leather in the Grand Touring trim level. Heated seats are also available on higher trims. The rear seats are comfier for passengers, with an added fold-down center armrest with cupholders.

Other upgrades that come standard across all trim levels include:
  • ·         Push-button start
  • ·         Rear window defogger with timer
  • ·         Remote keyless illuminated entry system with “answer back” feature

Improved Infotainment

All Mazda vehicles are designed to keep you connected to the road, but the MAZDA CONNECT system enables you to stay engaged with your entertainment as well. The infotainment suite is included on all 2019 CX-3 models and it comes with features like:

·         Seven-inch full-color touch screen display
·         Bluetooth® hands-free capability
·         Pandora® internet radio integration
·         SMS text message auto delivery and reply

The available Active Driving Display and Mazda Navigation System make it even easier for drivers to know what to expect on the road ahead.

According to a Consumer Reports article, in a national survey of U.S. drivers that plan to buy a new or used vehicle in the next two years, 51% said it was very important for their next car to have a rearview camera or backup warning , and 45% said they wanted a blind-spot warning system . It’s clear that these types of preventative safety measures are an important factor in new car purchases. Subaru’s latest driver safety systems go well bey
