Android Auto and Apple CarPlay Coming Soon to U.S. Mazda Models

In July, Mazda announced its plans to incorporate Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility into new and existing vehicles year 2014 and newer. The update will be available in August for European customers who have vehicles with the MAZDA CONNECT™ multimedia system. All new models will have these capabilities from the second they leave the factory.

How It Works

MAZDA CONNECT™ (Mazda’s own user interface) isn’t going anywhere, but it will be redesigned in the update to seamlessly incorporate drivers’ smartphone features. Drivers will be able to shift between Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and Mazda’s system as they please when their phones are connected to the MAZDA CONNECT™ system via USB.

To operate Apple CarPlay, owners can use the HMI Commander rotary control knob while the vehicle is stationary and the central touch screen. Android Auto will be controlled by the Commander controller alone.

Safety and Connectivity

In the interest of supporting user safety and connectivity for an unforgettable driving experience, customers will be able to make phone calls, send messages, use voice commands, listen to their favorite music via Apple Music and get directions with Apple Maps while on the move.

Android Auto integration will have many of the same features and functions as well as enhanced navigation technology. Users will notice more “Points Of Interest,” continual map updates and helpful aids such as “Route Sent To Car” and “Last 1 Mile.”

With the new updates, Mazda owners will be able to stay connected and safe. The system will be able to read messages aloud and will allow you to dictate your own responses – all without needing to take your eyes off the road.

U.S. Integration

As the birthplace of the motor car, Europe has an illustrious history with automobiles. Over the last century, the continent has embraced the automobile and its technologies as a means of economic growth, transportation and leisure.

Perhaps this is why new vehicle features are often first tested in Europe before being rolled out to the rest of the world. There’s no word yet on when Mazda’s compatibility update will be available for all U.S. models, but car experts say it likely won’t take long.

New 2018 Mazda6 Models

If you’ve recently purchased the new 2018 Mazda6 though, you’re in luck. Starting in July, dealerships began offering their customers free installation of the hardware and software required for the upgrade. According to Mazda, the updates shouldn’t take long, meaning you’ll be back on the road in no time – and with smartphone integration!

Beginning in December, Mazda6 Touring models and above will be available with smartphone integration straight off the factory line. The optional upgrade will still be available for lower trim levels. This complements the already impressive features of the Mazda6, which include:
  • Redesigned interior with Nappa leather
  • Heated and cooled front seats
  • Heated rear seats
  • Turbocharged 2.5-liter engine

Subaru EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology: How Subarus Can Keep You Safer On The Road Subaru has long been a leader in car safety systems, particularly those that allow the driver and passengers to be safer in a collision. Today most car buyers take crumple zones, safety belts, airbags and anti-lock brakes for granted, but overall safety features of a car are still a priority for most people. However, the focus is now shifting from what happens during and after an accident to preventing accidents from happening in the first place. According to a Consumer Reports article, in a national survey of U.S. drivers that plan to buy a new or used vehicle in the next two years, 51% said it was very important for their next car to have a rearview camera or backup warning , and 45% said they wanted a blind-spot warning system . It’s clear that these types of preventative safety measures are an important factor in new car purchases. Subaru’s latest driver safety systems go well bey

However, gasoline itself is typically available in three grades: standard, mid-grade and premium. But some gas stations even offer “E-15” and “E-85” grades, adding to the confusion at gas pumps. First, let’s cover diesel, which is far less common than gasoline powered vehicles. Diesel is a higher viscosity (thickness) fuel, which is derived from crude or
