2019 Subaru Ascent Top Features

The 2019 Subaru Ascent retains the features that made its 2018 debut a hit among critics with some added wrinkles. Namely, the affordable and practical midsize crossover SUV now has a third row of seats, making it a suitable option for large families seeking a comfortable and fuel-efficient ride.

Do you think the 2019 Ascent might be a good fit for you? These are some of the top features you can take advantage of when driving home in an Ascent later this year.

Family-Friendly Additions

The third row makes the 2019 Ascent the largest Subaru to date. The four-door SUV seats seven or eight depending on the seating configuration – captain’s chair second row seating comes standard in the Touring but is available on the Premium and Limited trims as well. The base trim comes standard with seating for eight.

Efficient Performance

The 2019 Ascent favors practicality and fuel efficiency over horsepower, though it still carries more than enough juice for everyday travel. The standard 2.4-liter turbo-charged four-cylinder engine gets an estimated 27/21 mpg highway/city while pushing out 260 horsepower and 277 foot-pounds of torque.

The new Ascent’s drivetrain comes with standard symmetrical all-wheel drive that provides balanced performance through a variety of driving conditions. The engine is also equipped with an eight-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Interior Features

The Ascent’s interior is designed to be family-friendly, evidenced by its 153 cubic feet of passenger volume that ranks favorably against competitors like the Ford Explorer and Honda Pilot.

Other passenger-friendly features include:

  •          Power rear gate
  •          19 cup and bottle holders
  •          Wi-Fi connectivity and up to eight USB ports
  •          Panoramic moonroof
Ascent drivers can also choose from slate black cloth, slate black leather, warm ivory cloth, warm ivory leather and java brown leather seating.

Sturdy and Versatile Exterior

The Ascent is practical enough to be a family commuter with exterior features ideal for weekend adventures. For example, the nearly nine-inch ground clearance, 113-inch wheelbase and high-strength steel construction make the Ascent more durable and rugged than most competitor models. And you can pack extra cargo with up to 5,000 pounds of towing capacity and standard Thule® raised roof rails.

Drivers can also take advantage of the X-MODE® feature, which assists the symmetrical all-wheel drive in slippery conditions. Similarly, Hill Descent Control provides added stability during treacherous descents and rough grades. Both features come standard on all trims.

Subaru Starlink™ Entertainment Anywhere and Other Tech Features

Modern drivers have come to expect a slew of technology features in new vehicles, and the 2019 Ascent delivers in that regard. The available Subaru Starlink Entertainment Anywhere package allows drivers and passengers to stay engaged with social media and stream content anywhere using the built-in Wi-Fi and available Starlink package, which includes:

  •          Two Apple iPad® 32 GB models
  •          Two Harmon Kardon® Bluetooth headphones
  •          Two Otterbox® Defender Series iPad cases

Each Ascent also comes standard with Subaru Starlink Multimedia, connecting drivers to apps like Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™, SiriusXM® and more. Drivers can also utilize wireless pairing and hands-free smartphone usage for convenient and safe access to their favorite artists, podcasts and apps.

Subaru Starlink Safety and Security

Part of what makes the new Subaru Ascent the ideal family vehicle is the available Subaru Starlink and Security technology. This safety feature has been recently updated for 2019 and the Ascent is the first model to offer it.

Some of the Starlink features include:

  •          Automatic collision notification
  •          Enhanced roadside assistance
  •          Stolen vehicle recovery
  •          Remote start with climate control
Other available safety features include:

  •         Standard EyeSight® driver assist technology
  •          Blind spot detection
  •          Rear cross-traffic alert
  •          Smart rear-view mirror and rear vision camera
  •          LED steering responsive headlights
  •          180-degree front camera

How Subaru Driver Assist Technology Keeps You Safer

Subaru EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology: How Subarus Can Keep You Safer On The Road Subaru has long been a leader in car safety systems, particularly those that allow the driver and passengers to be safer in a collision. Today most car buyers take crumple zones, safety belts, airbags and anti-lock brakes for granted, but overall safety features of a car are still a priority for most people. However, the focus is now shifting from what happens during and after an accident to preventing accidents from happening in the first place. According to a Consumer Reports article, in a national survey of U.S. drivers that plan to buy a new or used vehicle in the next two years, 51% said it was very important for their next car to have a rearview camera or backup warning , and 45% said they wanted a blind-spot warning system . It’s clear that these types of preventative safety measures are an important factor in new car purchases. Subaru’s latest driver safety systems go well bey...
